Revelytix Announces Support for Ontology-Guided Search
Hunt Valley, MD - March 24, 2009
Revelytix, Inc., a leading provider of semantic technology based information management products, today
announced a new feature through which users can graphically build SPARQL queries to search their
knowledgebases. "This feature set is extremely important to making the instances in Knoodl more easily
discoverable. It provides our customers with a quick and simple way to discover and navigate instance
level datasets. In addition to the new SPARQL query builder, the tree-view of all Vocabularies has been
extended to show relevant properties for each Class and each Class's (WIKI) page as a page-able list of
all of its instances", said Greg Milbank, President and Co-founder.
"Over the last few months we have unveiled a number of powerful few capabilities that make it easier for
our customers to discover and programmatically access information in the knowledgebase. Simplifying and
enhancing the Knoodl end user experience are the focus of the current phase of Knoodl's development",
Mr. Milbank said.
Revelytix Announces Support for SPARQL Endpoints
Hunt Valley, MD - February 16, 2009
Revelytix, Inc., a leading provider of semantic technology based information management products, today announced that ontologies and knowledgebases developed in knoodl can be accessed as SPARQL end points. This is an important step for us and a great opportunity for both our customers and partners. All vocabularies (ontologies & knowledgebases) developed in knoodl can now be queried by third party tools. Each community has control over which ontologies and knowledgebases are exposed as an endpoint by using knoodl's role-based permissions model. This new capability allows our customers and partners to access data and ontologies stored within Knoodl using the SPARQL protocol over HTTP. No programmatic interfacing is required. "One of our Partners has already taken advantage of this new feature to build their own ontology-driven user interface to analyze the data stored within their Knoodl knowledgebase", said Greg Milbank, President & Co-founder. "Knoodl is now a first order member of the semantic web community, users have always been able to build ontologies and knowledgebases in Knoodl, but until today they could only be used within the Knoodl environment. Many of our partners have asked to expose their knoodl based assets to be available to SPARQL queries from other tools."
Revelytix Awarded OSD/NII Contract as Follow On to Successful Army Pilot Implementation
Hunt Valley, MD - November 22, 2008
Leveraging the success of the Army's Architecture Federation Pilot (AAFP), OSD has purchased Revelytix's
collaborative semantic development tools for a joint forces SOA implementation. To further support the
findings of the AAFP, OSD will use MatchIT and Knoodl to inject semantic capabilities into the NII's Core
Enterprise Services To The Tactical Edge (CESTE) initiative. The CESTE team will build a semantic
knowledgbase using Revelytix's Knoodl.com which will improve visibility into the processes and software
services that are vital to ensuring the success of Joint Close Air Support missions. If successful, the
pilot will allow NII to use domain vocabularies to discover and precisely understand the capabilities they
have available at the tactical edge (war fighters, analysts, and other members of the operational theater).
"Using the collaborative capabilities of myKnoodl, NII is developing a set of reference models, in the
form of ontologies. Ontologies can be combined or more precisely, extended, to provide a uniform model
extensible enough to describe the totality of data sources, components and capabilities within their
enterprise architecture. We have been fortunate to be teaming with an exceptional group of architects and
integrator partners. Our success is dependent upon their expertise to execute on an extremely complex
set of customer requirements", said Greg Milbank, Revelytix, President & Co-founder.
"When terms are accurate and precise enough they can be used within our run-time environment to execute
queries, discover new services, and provide oversight into the acquisition and capability development
process. The collaborative capabilities offered by myKnoodl garner the involvement of subject matter
experts early in the process, insuring consensus on the definitions of terms in the ontologies. Their
collaborative efforts result in a community knowledgebase and semantic integration layer that uses domain
vocabularies to align disparate systems. As more and more communities participate in the collaborative
process, they inherit dramatically improved discovery capabilities and become fully interoperable with
applications developed by other communities within the same model (ontology). Community administrators
can then extend their models to accommodate the unique capability requirements of the community without
breaking the other community's models. This is one of the inherent advantages of OWL and RDF,"
Mr. Milbank said.
Revelytix Announces Support for Mulgara Triple Store
Hunt Valley, MD - November 22, 2008
Revelytix, Inc., the leading provider of semantic technology based information management products, announced the incorporation of the Mulgara RDF triple store into Knoodl.com, along with Krule, a rules engine that is built into Mulgara. "This was a strategic decision made by our technical team to insure Knoodl's scalability and reliability satisfy performance expectations for enterprise caliber deployments", said Gregory Milbank, Co-founder and President. "In testing, we discovered significant performance enhancements with Mulgara over our prior RDF store. We are excited to be working with the Mulgara Project. We are an active contributor to the Mugara Project, and offer another production instance of Mulgara for any organizations wanting to use a scalable, performant RDF triple store."
"The Mulgara Semantic Store community welcomes Revelytix to its group of production users and appreciates Revelytix's contributions to Mulgara's Open Source code base. The Mulgara community is pleased to support Revelytix and Knoodl", said David Wood, Co-founder of the Mulgara Semantic Store and Semantic Web researcher. Mulgara's nearly decade-long research and development lineage and recent support of the SPARQL query language has resulted in the first enterprise-ready RDF triple store for the Semantic Web. Knoodl relies on Mulgara to store and analyze all of its RDF data and OWL ontologies.
Revelytix will continue to position Knoodl.com and myKnoodl as platform independent products. We remain committed to supporting the backend database choices of our customers, "Our goal is to provide a semantic development platform that suits our customers and leverages existing infrastructure investments", Mr. Milbank said.
About the Mulgara Project
The Mulgara Project is an open source community whose mission is the development of a scalable semantic data store. This global community has developed a production-quality database based on a directed graph data model, optimized for the storage and analysis of data in the Resource Description Framework (RDF) and Web Ontology Language (OWL). Mulgara supports Semantic Web standards of the World Wide Web Consortium including the SPARQL query language. Mulgara is Open Source Software, licensed under the Open Software License, version 3.0, and developed by an international community of developers. Revelytix Announces the Deployment of Knoodl.com in Amazon EC2
Hunt Valley, MD - November 22, 2008
Revelytix, Inc., a leading provider of semantic technology based information management products, today announced the redeployment of www.knoodl.com in the Amazon EC2 Cloud. "This is a real game changer for Revelytix. The performance potential afforded through cloud computing puts Knoodl.com in a class by itself amongst semantic development platforms", said Gregory Milbank, Co-founder and President. "Our deployment in the cloud affords us the option of availing Knoodl as a service while removing scalability as an obstacle. We shifted the game when we moved ontology development into a thin client collaborative architecture with the release of Knoodl. Now, we are amending the pricing model to accommodate the hosted delivery of myKnoodl. Knoodl.com is a free destination site for people who want to learn about OWL/RDF and the benefits of community oriented collaboration. myKnoodl is licensed for installation behind company firewalls. Now we can also offer the same service hosted by Revelytix or the customer in the EC2 Cloud", Mr. Milbank said.

Revelytix Announces the Release of Knoodl.com Beta
Hunt Valley, MD - November 20, 2006
Revelytix, Inc., a leading provider of technologies that enable Ontology-Driven Information
Management (ODIM), announced today the beta release of Knoodl.com. This release is a
complement to the semantic matching and vocabulary management capabilities released earlier
this year in MatchIT 1.2.2. The combined offering of Knoodl.com and MatchIT enables complex
system interoperability (SOA) like never before. Knoodl.com is the first web-based
ontology registry and editor that also recognizes the critical nature of community
collaboration in the creation of domain vocabularies. Knoodl.com, using a Wiki
framework, enables individuals to register and communities to organize for the specific
purpose of creating highly useful OWL ontology vocabularies. Equally important Knoodl.com
provides a common place for individuals and groups alike to register and share ontologies
or keep them private. Using MatchIT to auto-generate representative terminology from source
systems, Knoodl.com communities can bootstrap their ontologies within the Knoodl environment.
The web-based version of Knoodl.com is free to individuals and groups alike. This same
